Why Choose a Nurse Practitioner?
WHAT IS A NURSE PRACTITIONER?
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed specific additional advanced nursing
education who is trained in diagnosing common and complex medical conditions. Nurse practitioners can provide a full range of primary care medical services, such as ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests; diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions; prescribing medications and treatments; and managing overall patient care.
WHY SEE A NURSE PRACTITIONER?
Nurse practitioners treat not only illnesses but patients. When a person is ill, there can be many components involved, such as pain, discomfort, worry, fear, grief, anxiety and depression. Appreciating the mind-body connection and the complexities of an illness or disease is what we like to do best – that is, treating the whole patient. This is the art of nursing. As a Nurse Practitioner, we enjoy having more flexibility time with patients to address those concerns. Therefore, we strive to incorporate ideas to improve and preserve wellness, not just cure illness.
